Frequently Asked Questions for Tooth Pain, Bleeding Gums & More

When should a dental crown be done over a dental filling?

Whether or not a filling can be done depends on how much damage is done to the tooth and how much tooth structure is left. The larger the damage, the more likely it will need a crown. The earlier treatment is done, the more tooth structure you can preserve.

I have a dental emergency. I am in a lot of dental pain.

No worries! Our team will do our best to accommodate dental emergency patients during and after regular business hours. Dental emergencies include injury to the gums and teeth, cracked or knocked out teeth, and severe dental pain caused by decay or infection. Please give us a call or text at (925) 918-6500. Don’t wait or try “sleep it off’ because it can get a lot worse very quickly and the earlier we can see you, the less permanent damage is done. If it is a medical emergency such as inability to breathe, please call 911 immediately.

How often should I brush and floss to stop bleeding gums?

Most patients who consistently floss once a day and brush twice per day consistently will maintain healthy teeth and prevent bleeding gums. If you have consistently flossing and brushing and you are still bleeding, there may be a chance that you have gum disease. Dr. Pham and Dr. Chung will be happy to review gums health and design a treatment plan to treat gum disease and home maintenance modifications that is suitable to reduce the bleeding gums.

I do not have dental insurance. Can I still come to your office?
